Batman + Fine Art = Cool!

Our friend Brian sent us this extremely cool Black & White Art Photo that shows Batman waking up & getting out of bed. Apparently, he lives in a super-minimalist house ...Awesome!

The next picture was one that I found from an art gallery that had a show of "Blotter Acid Art". Blotter Art is a movement that gained popularity a few years ago where they print designs on a perforated-sheet of actual LSD Acid Blotter Paper. They look kinda neat when framed & have sort of a political statement automatically attached because of the "drug culture" aspect of the paper. For non-druggies this is the kind of paper drug dealers use to sell LSD. They drip the chemical onto each square & when addicts buy them they tear off some squares. If you don't want a full dose you just tear a piece in half, or a "half hit". Of course these Batman ones don't have the drug dipped on them. They're just for looks.

MATT POTT, A Commercial Artist Inspired by Batman!

People know that I love art so a friend at MySpace told me about this commercial artist named Matt Pott. He has a very cool online portfolio & you can tell from a few pictures he did that he's a HUGE fan of Batman, ha ha! Here's a few examples right here: Batgirl & Catwoman. BATMAN and ROBIN PLUSH ART DOLLS By Elizabeth Garvey

The other day a friend turned me on to a website of an artist who makes some really great artwork. Her name is Elizabeth Garvey & she has a lot of style! Shown here are 2 very primitive-looking handmade dolls of Batman & Robin that are extremely cool. I love the homemade quality of them & the fact that they are not perfect. BATMAN TATTOO ART: Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, & Catwoman Tattoos

One of our Bat-Blog Readers, named Peter, sent us these amazing photos of his 2 Batman-related Tattoos & they're AWESOME! Extremely well done with sharp lines & nice coloring. Basically it's the "GOTHAM GIRLS" done in the artwork-style of Bruce Timm from Batman: The Animated Series. On one arm he has the Catwoman leaping through the air & on the other arm is a graphic showing Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn together. I have always loved that Classic TV Cartoon & think this is a great choice for tattoo art. Thank you Peter for sending these wonderful photos. PHOTO: New BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE JIM APARO Statue

Ya know, these BLACK AND WHITE Statues from DC Direct just keep getting better & better! ( Click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). One of my favorite childhood heroes was the classic comic book artist Jim Aparo. His version of Batman is still one of my favorites, up there with Neal Adams & Jim Lee. At the DC Comics website I noticed this new statue in their "Just Announced" section. The text reads:

Photo: "Golden Age Joker" Batman Graphic Tattoo Art

I just found this really great example of some Batman-Related Tattoo Art. This is a graphic of the "Joker Playing Card" logo from the Golden Age of Batman comics. The tattoo belongs to a friend known as "Montreal_Clown" who resides in, you guessed it, Canada! I think the artist did a very good job. The colors are vivid & sharp...nice, very nice! As a side note I wanna thank the owner for allowing me to post this great pic. I appreciate that & your Joker tattoo looks awesome, a very good choice of imagery!

The Art of Marc Wolfe: Batman, The Joker, & Harley Quinn!

A friend of mine told me about an artist who must really like Batman because he has a few examples of Batman-related artwork in his online portfolio. The artist's name is Mark Wolfe & this guy is pretty talented. Here are a few examples of some graphics he did that look like real-life playing cards. I think they would make an awesome card set. New BATMAN COMIC BOOK ART Source Photo By Jim Lee

Here's an amazing "source photo" by Jim Lee. It shows how he took a digital photo of a toy motorcycle to help work out perspective issues on a major splash-page for an All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder comic book he drew. The finished pencil art shows The Black Canary on her motorcycle tearing through Gotham City. I thought it was really cool to compare them & had to share it.

A friend sent this link ( Thanks Dave ) to an amazing commercial artist's website where he does well-known people rendered in the art style of characters from the Simpsons. It's called SPRINGFIELD PUNX! He's done a ton of famous people like Napoleon Dynomite, Steven Colbert, Jay Leno, NEO from The Matrix, Back To The Future, Pee Wee Herman, Heroes TV Show, & many many more! Our favorites are the actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show! Look at these of Batman ( Adam West ), Robin ( Burt Ward ), Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ), Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Joker ( Cesar Romero), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), & The Penguin ( Burgess Meredeth )....AMAZING!! Batman's 1966 Batmobile Decorates Texas Restaurant!

Yesterday we received an e-mail from a loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Dave who wrote, "I went to a new restaurant last Friday. It's called YESTERDAY'S in Bridgeport, Texas, and is basically full of nostalgia. Attached, you'll find a picture that really peaked my interest. There's a sign that says it is original and authentic from 1966, but DO NOT TOUCH. Oh yeah, and the food was great also!" Thanks Dave for both the information & the photo. I checked out the URL you sent & it looks like a really cool place. The 1966 Batmobile Vending Machine Ride is always great to see. I really love those & want one badly! The other memorabilia they have is cool too. ( Click the photo for a larger version ). There's a '66 Life Magazine on the wall with the famous Adam West cover, some Batman Movie Posters ( not sure if those are real ), 2 Batman Pennants, some misc photos, a Red Bat-Phone ( that's funny ), & they even painted a "Bat-Signal Art Mural" on the wall....awesome! I love "Mom & Pop diner-type" places like this. They're usually way better than the corporate chains. I do go to Texas every now & then so next time, if I'm near there, I'm gonna have to make a visit to Yesterday's! ( Thanks Again Dave ). Disney Princesses As Beautiful Tattoo Pin-Ups

If the internet has taught us anything, it's that Disney princesses pretty much look good no matter what you do to them. Being illustrated as sexy tattoo pin-ups, however, seems to especially suit them. Artist Tim Shumate came up with these sultry looks and they feature the familiar faces with quotes and tattooed skin. He has designs starring Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, and more. Though they're available on everything from t-shirts to iPhone cases, they'd look perfect on a bicep.

EVAN SHANER, Cartoonist & Batman Inspired Artist!

Recently I came across a blog written by Evan Shaner. He's a design student & cartoonist who is very inspired by comic book heroes, especially Batman. Some of his favorite artists are Alex Toth, Mike Wieringo, Jordi Bernet, Joe Kubert, & Darwyn Cooke. Shown up above are just 2 examples of his amazing work. The 1st one was an art commission for a friend who wanted a re-creation of the Golden Age Batman #11 comic book. I attached a photo of the original comic book to it so you can see how good it is...very nice! The next picture is a personal piece where he just expressed his love for all the villains who used to appear on Batman: The Animated series. He has a great style, clean & crisp. Drew's CUSTOM BATMOBILE Batman Concept Car!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Drew Kristoff, recently sent this cool picture he did of a "Batmobile Concept Car". He wrote, "I've been enjoying the Bat-Blog for about a month now and really enjoy it. I love all aspects of the Batman. I thought I'd send you an illustration I did. This is a concept of what an old 60's early 70's Chevrolet Chevelle might look like if it was made into a Batmobile". Wow! BATMAN IN CHICAGO, TATTOO ART By Patrick Cornolo

This morning I was very happily surprised to find this awesome photo in my e-mail. It's from a friend in Chicago, named Joe, who got a HUGE Batman Tattoo on his back recently. The photo shows the preliminary "black line stage". He wrote, "Again, from Patrick Cornolo of Speakeasy Custom Tattoo, I finally got a proper Batman tattoo in time for the new movie coming out! It's actually a work in progress, as I only got the line work completed and will get the coloring done later. The image came from DC Comics' Secret Origins title from the 1980s. To make it a little more personal, I had Patrick redesign the background based on our home base here in Chicago. I'll forward another picture when I get the tattoo in full color, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!". WOW! Dude, it's HUGE! That must have hurt, ha ha! So far it looks really good & I know Patrick's work, so when it's done, it's gonna be totally awesome. He does great work. Gothic Batman & The Dark Knight Joker Tattoo Art Photos!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Carl, sent in these amazing photos of some of his recently done Batman & Joker tattoos. The 1st 2 pictures show the "Gothic Batman" art on the back of his arm. I call it "Gothic" because of the Gothic-style lettering/font used for the letter B. I also like the simple silhouette of Batman in the background. This is a very interesting tattoo, one you don't see a lot. The next one is pretty awesome also. It's a Heath Ledger Joker Face from the new Dark Knight Batman movie. It's on the top of his fist so I guess when he punches you in the face the last thing you see, before passing out, is the Joker! Ha Ha, sorry, that was my lame attempt at humor. But seriously, these are some very well-done tattoos. Thank you Carl for sending the photos, I appreciate that & I know my readers will find them very interesting. Special BATMAN and BAT-MITE Children's Art Drawing!

Here's a recently submitted photo from a loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Hans ( who lives in The Netherlands ). It's a beautiful piece of art that was drawn by his daughter while he was in the hospital. It shows 2 of his favorite characters, Batman & Bat-Mite! I always love art done by children. She's a sweet kid to have drawn this, it's wonderful. Our friend "Brohawk" sent us this amazing video showing the "World's Fastest Batman Artist"! The drawing is sort of hard to see at first because it's done so lightly but once he gets going...WOW! It's kinda funny to see it at high-speed & when he's done it's actually pretty good.

Advertising Banner For BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie

Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named "Brohawk" who's an extremely talented graphic artist. His work is featured on the cover to the BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie that came out a few years ago. Here's a photo I found at his personal website & had to share it. It seems that Warner Bros, around the time of the release of this movie, put up this HUGE vinyl banner advertising the event. "Brohawk" is shown here in the 2 photos. In the 1st one you can see how GIANT-SIZED this thing was, look how tiny he is compared to it... it's HUGE, ha ha! This must have been an amazing day for him seeing his work so large-scale like this & personally I am kinda proud of it too.
