Remember, you saw it here first! This is the 1st look at the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT Anime Batman Film by Warner Bros. For people living under a rock & have not heard of this DC UNIVERSE Animated Movie it will come out as a DVD just before the DARK KNIGHT Motion Picture is released in Summer 2008. Batman The Animated Series Costume Model Sheet

While surfing the net the other day I came across this very interesting graphic somebody made that showed the evolution of the bat-costume from modern-day Batman TV cartoons. It starts with the Animated Series from 1992 & goes to present day with the new THE BATMAN version. I like that BATMAN BEYOND was also included, nice! I forgot to bookmark the page & now wish I knew so I could direct people there. If anyone knows please leave a comment, thanks.

DVD REVIEW: Justice League, The New Frontier

OK, I want to say, 1st thing, that I received a free copy of this DVD for review but that in NO way affects my opinion here. I'm gonna be very honest about what I feel about this movie. This movie is AWESOME! Justice League, The New Frontier is Warner Brothers' latest DVD film that is being released to stores today, Feb 26th! It's the adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's popular graphic novel from a few years ago. He was an adviser on the film so it totally retains the look & feel of his famous artwork. The graphic style is sort of an homage to the animation art that was popular in the 1950's. Very simple & minimal with strong color palettes. The art direction of this film is beautiful. The sound effects & voice acting are top notch! There are too many great actors to name here but the voices were all wonderful. The storyline starts out in the Korean War & ends when John F. Kennedy is president so it's almost all about the Cold War era. The DC Comic Book characters are the ones from the Silver-Age of comics so that has a great nostalgic appeal. There's a few political statements here & there but they're kinda watered down ( The general public thinks The Flash might be a Communist because his costume is RED, ha ha ). The basic story is how the Justice League got together & formed a team. There's a huge event that places the earth in danger & they all get together to fight it. Overall I really enjoyed this movie & highly recommend it. My only gripe is that at 75 minutes it seemed a little short. Other than that small detail the artwork, sound e/fx, voices, storyline, is really very good. I guess if I was to rate it by number I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. If you liked the graphic novel then you'll love this animated version!

GOTHAM KNIGHT New Images From The BATMAN ANIME DVD!

There's been a lot of excitement about the new animated project from Warner Bros where they will release a special DVD movie just before the release of THE DARK KNIGHT Feature Film. It's called GOTHAM KNIGHT & the story takes place between BATMAN BEGINS & THE DARK KNIGHT movies so I guess it sort of like a prequel. We have talked about here a lot ( check the Bat-Archives ). Anyway, here's some amazing scenes from the anime-style animated film & they look awesome!! I can't wait to see an actual movie trailer for this, it's gonna be great.

Video: Fan-Made Film ( Dubbed Dutch Language ) Batman Beyond: The Return of The Joker

Here's a recently found video that I thought was pretty interesting. Some fans took a clip from a Batman Animated Cartoon & added their own voices, in Dutch! Even though I can't understand what they're saying you can still get that they did a good job with the inflictions, timing, & "sound" of the characters. Check it out, it's kinda neat.

NEW DESKTOP WALLPAPERS: Batman Animated TV Show THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Cartoon Network

The Cartoon Network as announced that they will be doing a new Batman animated cartoon TV series called BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. It looks like they're giving the franchise a whole new look & it will be modeled after the original comic book series where each episode they will feature a different DC Universe character teaming up with the Dark Knight. It's scheduled to be released later this year in fall 2008. This, of course, will create a whole new reason for new toys & merchandising so be sure to check with the Bat-Blog in the near future for that information...we're excited! Oh yeah, about the 2 graphics featured here, they're both Batman Desktop Wallpapers! Please feel free to decorate your PC desktop or use them in a MySpace layout!

KEVIN CONROY, The Voice of BATMAN, On Matlock!!

This short video clip is pretty funny. It features the actor Kevin Conroy as he makes a special guest appearance on Matlock. If you listen to his voice very carefully you WILL HEAR BATMAN! As we all know Kevin is the voice of Batman & Bruce Wayne on Batman :The Animated Series, Justice League, and, in the near future, the voice of Batman on the new DC animated film Batman: Gotham Knight. Advertising Banner For BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie

Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named "Brohawk" who's an extremely talented graphic artist. His work is featured on the cover to the BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie that came out a few years ago. Here's a photo I found at his personal website & had to share it. It seems that Warner Bros, around the time of the release of this movie, put up this HUGE vinyl banner advertising the event. "Brohawk" is shown here in the 2 photos. In the 1st one you can see how GIANT-SIZED this thing was, look how tiny he is compared to it... it's HUGE, ha ha! This must have been an amazing day for him seeing his work so large-scale like this & personally I am kinda proud of it too.

While trying to decide what images to use this week for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I came up with these two choices. Here’s A Cthulhu-Themed My Little Pony, Because Friendship Is Madness

We've seen mashups of Cthulhu and My Little Pony before, like this T-shirt by Joie Brown and this custom-sculpted toy on deviantART, but now Bigshot Toyworks have outdone themselves with this Cthulhu-themed My Little Pony design.

They're calling this disturbingly-cute Old One "Little Maddie", and these animated mock-ups are part of an upcoming animated series and toy line they're calling "Friendship is Maddness". You know who else is calling? Everyone's favorite Lovecraftian nightmare, Cthulhu. Don't answer it.

BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Animated Cartoon To Become a Comic Book!

Of course we all knew this was gonna happen but DC Comics has just released the following information: The first #1 issue of the BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD animated comic series will hit shelves on January 28th, 2009 with a cover price of $2.50. It features the story "The Panic of the Composite Creature," written by Matt Wayne with art by Andy Suriano & Dan Davis. James Tucker provides the cover art for Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1. The first issue, and each subsequent issue thereafter, also features Batman's secret files on the best heroes and worst villains. This sounds pretty cool. The art direction on the animated series by CARTOON NETWORK looks awesome so let's hope they do an equally as good job on the comic book ( I know they will, thank you Brian for sending the pictures ).

The art direction, audio sounds, & overall animation quality are very excellent, whew! I can't wait until November 14th ( Friday 7:30pm ) when this new Batman TV Show premieres! See, THIS Is How You Do An Iron Man Cartoon

Animation was, even in the days of the dreaded Marvel curse, a bright spot for the House of Ideas. But sometimes the fans just do it better. Like Anthony McGrath, an animator at Evolution Studio, who cut together something that will be passed off as an Iron Man 4 trailer, no doubt.

Essentially, it's a short subject about why you don't fire missiles at Tony Stark. Because Tony Stark always has his Iron Man armor. Always.

Or if you just want the highlight in GIF form:

McGrath actually did most of this himself, if you examine the credits, although he did have some help with the modeling and one or two people pitched in elsewhere. But mostly we find ourselves wondering why this guy doesn't already have a job at Marvel. OK, so it likely took McGrath a lot of time to properly animate and render this, and it's a minute and a half of animation, but who wouldn't buy an entire movie of this? Or watch an animated series? Or buy a "Tony Stark Car Armor" toy?

At the very least, he should be thrown some cash so he can put the AC/DC song that was obviously removed from the credits back in. It's just not Iron Man without heavy metal.

BATMAN, THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD : The Official Warner Bros Animation Website

Warner Brothers Animation & the Cartoon Network have just released the new Official Website for their new animated TV series BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD! The page has a few FREE Flash Games to play, an interactive "Action Figure" area, & my favorite part of the site, a special "Behind The Scenes" Area where you can watch videos of the director, animators, artists, etc...talk about how they make the cartoon. If you watch the 1st one you get a good view of some of the many bat-vehicles that will eventually appear in the new TV show. Like, the Batmobile, Bat-Cycle, Bat-Jet, Bat-Boat, etc...They all look really great! They also have a cool retro-feel about them which I really enjoy. Overall the new website is very well-designed & features some awesome graphics. It also has a lot of interactive animation that is very neat. If you're a serious Batman Fan ( or just love the new cartoon ) then please be sure to check it out sometime. I've included a link button down below.

Video: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Art Student Animation

This video was done by an art student who was totally inspired by Batman. It's based on the Frank Miller Batman from "The Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel. If you have read that classic book then you will recognize this moment. Overall the animation is pretty good & I like the minimal-style artwork too...a great piece!
