Remember, you saw it here first! This is the 1st look at the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT Anime Batman Film by Warner Bros. For people living under a rock & have not heard of this DC UNIVERSE Animated Movie it will come out as a DVD just before the DARK KNIGHT Motion Picture is released in Summer 2008. It's gonna feature state-of-the-art animation done by some of the most major Japanese Anime artists & directors. The story will bridge the gap between the 2 Batman movies: Batman Begins & The Dark Knight. DVD REVIEW: Justice League, The New Frontier

OK, I want to say, 1st thing, that I received a free copy of this DVD for review but that in NO way affects my opinion here. I'm gonna be very honest about what I feel about this movie. This movie is AWESOME! Justice League, The New Frontier is Warner Brothers' latest DVD film that is being released to stores today, Feb 26th! It's the adaptation of Darwyn Cooke's popular graphic novel from a few years ago. He was an adviser on the film so it totally retains the look & feel of his famous artwork. The graphic style is sort of an homage to the animation art that was popular in the 1950's. Very simple & minimal with strong color palettes. The art direction of this film is beautiful. The sound effects & voice acting are top notch! There are too many great actors to name here but the voices were all wonderful. The storyline starts out in the Korean War & ends when John F. Kennedy is president so it's almost all about the Cold War era. The DC Comic Book characters are the ones from the Silver-Age of comics so that has a great nostalgic appeal. There's a few political statements here & there but they're kinda watered down ( The general public thinks The Flash might be a Communist because his costume is RED, ha ha ). The basic story is how the Justice League got together & formed a team. There's a huge event that places the earth in danger & they all get together to fight it. Overall I really enjoyed this movie & highly recommend it. My only gripe is that at 75 minutes it seemed a little short. Other than that small detail the artwork, sound e/fx, voices, storyline, is really very good. I guess if I was to rate it by number I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. If you liked the graphic novel then you'll love this animated version!

GOTHAM KNIGHT New Images From The BATMAN ANIME DVD!

There's been a lot of excitement about the new animated project from Warner Bros where they will release a special DVD movie just before the release of THE DARK KNIGHT Feature Film. It's called GOTHAM KNIGHT & the story takes place between BATMAN BEGINS & THE DARK KNIGHT movies so I guess it sort of like a prequel. We have talked about here a lot ( check the Bat-Archives ). Anyway, here's some amazing scenes from the anime-style animated film & they look awesome!! I can't wait to see an actual movie trailer for this, it's gonna be great.

NEW DESKTOP WALLPAPERS: Batman Animated TV Show THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Cartoon Network

The Cartoon Network as announced that they will be doing a new Batman animated cartoon TV series called BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. It looks like they're giving the franchise a whole new look & it will be modeled after the original comic book series where each episode they will feature a different DC Universe character teaming up with the Dark Knight. It's scheduled to be released later this year in fall 2008. This, of course, will create a whole new reason for new toys & merchandising so be sure to check with the Bat-Blog in the near future for that information...we're excited! Advertising Banner For BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie

Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named "Brohawk" who's an extremely talented graphic artist. His work is featured on the cover to the BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie that came out a few years ago. Here's a photo I found at his personal website & had to share it. It seems that Warner Bros, around the time of the release of this movie, put up this HUGE vinyl banner advertising the event. "Brohawk" is shown here in the 2 photos. In the 1st one you can see how GIANT-SIZED this thing was, look how tiny he is compared to it... it's HUGE, ha ha! This must have been an amazing day for him seeing his work so large-scale like this & personally I am kinda proud of it too.

While trying to decide what images to use this week for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I came up with these two choices. The 1st one is the awesome new toy vehicle by HOT TOYS, The Dark Knight Bat-Pod & 12" Batman Figure!! I love this photo because it's such an interesting action shot. Plus, these toys are very cool! The 2nd desktop background is a new image from the production art of the new animated series coming from The Cartoon Network, Batman: The Brave and The Bold! BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Animated Cartoon To Become a Comic Book!

Of course we all knew this was gonna happen but DC Comics has just released the following information: The first #1 issue of the BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD animated comic series will hit shelves on January 28th, 2009 with a cover price of $2.50. It features the story "The Panic of the Composite Creature," written by Matt Wayne with art by Andy Suriano & Dan Davis. James Tucker provides the cover art for Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1. The first issue, and each subsequent issue thereafter, also features Batman's secret files on the best heroes and worst villains. This sounds pretty cool. The art direction on the animated series by CARTOON NETWORK looks awesome so let's hope they do an equally as good job on the comic book ( I know they will, thank you Brian for sending the pictures ).

BATMAN, THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD : The Official Warner Bros Animation Website

Warner Brothers Animation & the Cartoon Network have just released the new Official Website for their new animated TV series BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD! The page has a few FREE Flash Games to play, an interactive "Action Figure" area, & my favorite part of the site, a special "Behind The Scenes" Area where you can watch videos of the director, animators, artists, etc...talk about how they make the cartoon. If you watch the 1st one you get a good view of some of the many bat-vehicles that will eventually appear in the new TV show. Like, the Batmobile, Bat-Cycle, Bat-Jet, Bat-Boat, etc...They all look really great! They also have a cool retro-feel about them which I really enjoy. Overall the new website is very well-designed & features some awesome graphics. It also has a lot of interactive animation that is very neat. If you're a serious Batman Fan ( or just love the new cartoon ) then please be sure to check it out sometime. I've included a link button down below.

Video: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Art Student Animation

This video was done by an art student who was totally inspired by Batman. It's based on the Frank Miller Batman from "The Dark Knight Returns" graphic novel. If you have read that classic book then you will recognize this moment. Overall the animation is pretty good & I like the minimal-style artwork too...a great piece!

It looks like Green Arrow will be the special guest on the next episode of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD on the Cartoon Network, Friday, January 2nd. Video: THE JOKER ( THE DARK KNIGHT ) 3D ANIMATION - You Wanna Know How I Got These Scars??

An art student named Brad did this amazing CGI animation video while learning to lip sync a character. It was an assignment for a 3D animation class & he chose The Joker from The Dark Knight Batman movie. It uses Heath Ledger's voice & it's pretty cool, I mean, super-creepy!

Video: First Look at "Dawn of the Dead Man” in the Batman: The Brave and The Bold Animated TV Series.

This week's episode of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD is titled "Dawn of the Dead Man!" ( Episode 7 ) guest stars Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum ( Lex Luthor ) as "Dead Man" and airs this Friday, January 16th on the Cartoon Network at 8:00 PM, 7:00 Central. Deadman and Batman team up as spirits to stop Gentleman Ghost from raising an army of undead criminals. Green Arrow and Speedy Thief join in the battle to save London. Plus, everybody is excited about this show because the early teaser will be Batman and Kamandi as they battle a horde of monsters from the future...it sounds awesome!

BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM - 15th Anniversary!

In honor of the 15th Anniversary of the now-classic BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM Animated Movie (1993-2008) I made this Background Wallpaper to brighten your desktop! Of course it uses the graphics from the cool vintage movie poster. If you're a serious Batman Fan & you have never seen this film then you really owe it to yourself to do so, it's GREAT! The animation is totally top-notch & is actually one of the best animated Batman movies out there. It's really one of my favorite Batman stories. I remember when it originally came out because I was pretty excited! It came out around the time that the much celebrated TV cartoon series was about to end & it was a very nice ending. It's got some very cool CGI computer animation blended in with the traditional artwork. But it's so seamless that, in most areas, you can't even tell. Plus, it sort of raised the bar a little in animation quality. Hmmm, thinking about how this movie is having it's 15th Year Anniversary is starting to make me feel kinda old, ha ha! It's been out now on DVD for quite awhile & is worthy of renting. So, think about it the next time you can't find anything to rent at the video store. NYC 2009 NYCC Action Figure News : Batman, The Brave and The Bold DC Mini Figures

At the famous New York City Comic Con this weekend Mattel showcased a few NEW Batman Toys coming out later in 2009. A brand-new toy line that will have Batman: The Brave and The Bold Fans totally drooling will be these new mini-figures called "DC Minis". It looks like they're gonna make Batman ( 2 or more variations ), Aquaman, Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado, Black Manta, Kanjar Ro, The Atom & maybe a few others. They're also gonna make at least one vehicle ( probably more ) of the Batmobile! Oh man, that Batmobile Car is AWESOME!!
