Our favorites are the actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show! A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Rick, sent me an e-mail about his cool hobby of making custom dolls & action figures. He calls his company DARKSIDE CUSTOMS & his work is totally amazing! His focus is on the many different characters from the classic 1966 Batman TV Show. The attention to detail is totally insane! Plus, I really enjoy that he made a few of the obscure villains. Now of course he made a Batman & Robin ( Adam West, Burt Ward ) but the rouge's list includes: Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Bookworm ( Roddy McDowall ), Mr. Freeze ( Otto Preminger ), The Madhatter ( David Wayne ), & Egghead ( Vincent Price ). Yesterday I was very surprised to get an e-mail all the way from Argentina! A Bat-Blog Reader named Pablo Canad wrote me about some of his artwork. He's a very talented Graphic Artist & as you can tell he is totally inspired by both Batman & his Super-Villians. Each portrait has a picture of the Dark Knight in combat with a different foe: The Joker, Catwoman, & The Riddler. Thanks for sending these Pablo, they're really really GREAT! Keep up the good work. I really like these 2 Batman Drawings I got in my e-mail box the other day & just had to share them. They're done by a Bat-Blog Reader named Dean Verge. As you can tell he really likes Batman & that's cool! Now, even thought I think both of these are really good, the one of the Riddler is my total favorite! It kind of reminds me of the art of Jim Aparo, a Silver-Age Classic! Thank you Dean for sending these in & keep up the good work. A good friend to the Bat-Blog, named Neville, sent us some extremely cool photos yesterday. He wrote, "I have one more picture from last year's Polaris Convention to send to you: it's a picture of Nightwing, the Riddler, and Robin, all looking quite intense. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, here's another one of Catwoman too!" Ha Ha, AWESOME!! Thank you Neville. I really love these Comic Book Fans who dress up when they go to comicons. Seriously, it's very cool how creative they are. All of these costumes look really really great...good job! I think a lot of people who were at that show really appreciated these characters. Plus, I think a lot of readers are gonna really love that Catwoman pic...MEOW!! If any other readers have ANY kind of Batman-related photos to share then please send them in, we always love that!
OK, This post is for all you "Millionaire Collectors" & is sort of in 2 sections. In one, Profiles in History is holding an auction on May 1st, 2009, where they are selling off a huge proportion of the Hollywood Wax Museum statues. These are the original wax statues displayed at the famous museum & there are a ton of great ones like James Dean, Lucille Ball, Wizard of OZ, Henry Winkler as The Fonz, John Travolta, Bob Hope, etc...way too many to list here but it's totally crazy how many there are! Included in that sale are life-size figures of 1989 Batman ( Michael Keaton ), '89 Joker ( Jack Nicholson ), & 1992 Catwoman From Batman Returns ( Michelle Pfeiffer ).
Now, the 2nd part of this post is about Profiles in History ALSO selling original movie props from another collection, sort of two-auctions-in-one. The Batman-related items in that sale include: a Screen-Used Cowl from Batman & Robin, Jim Carrey's Riddler Cane from Batman Forever, Val Kilmer's Sonar Bat-Suit Costume, 1966 Catwoman Cat-Suit & Belt ( Lee Meriwether ), Adam West's Tights, Val Kilmer's Panther Cowl, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze Costume & Freeze-Ray Gun ( sold separately ), etc...Both sales are spread out over a 2 day period & will surely have to be visited by many Batman Fans. OK, right now I could not be more proud! Yesterday I received an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Fan named Xavier. He is 9 years old, in the 4th Grade, & really loves to draw comic book characters. He even has a cool website, called "Super Creations", where he shares his artwork. He also really really loves the Bat-Blog! In the letter he sent this picture he recently drew to help promote the Bat-Blog on his website. It's EXTREMELY SUPER-AWESOME!! Please be sure to click on it for a larger, more detailed, version. He drew a bunch of characters in the "Animated Series" style: Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, The Riddler, Bane, Clayface, & even Two-Face!! I totally love it & really appreciate it, it's great! In Argentina, in 1978 & '79, DC Comics teamed up with Pepsi-Cola for a very cool DC SUPER HERO Promotion! They had special Super Hero Bottle Caps placed on their Pepsi Soda Pop Bottles with very cool graphics of a comic book hero or villain. Quite a few of them were Batman-related so that's what you see in the 1st photo, click on it for a larger version. They made ones for Batman, Robin, Commissioner Gordon ( Comisionado Gordon ), Batgirl ( Batichica ), Bruce Wayne ( Bruno Diaz ), The Joker, The Riddler ( El Acertijo ), The Penguin ( Pinguino ), Catwoman ( Gatubela ), Ra's Al Ghul ( Ragul ), & The Scarecrow ( El Espantapajaros ). The next two photos show a special in-store Paper Place Mat that contained a "Collector Board" on one side ( in color ) & a "Checker Game" on the other. These photos also show the other Bottle Caps of Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Flash, etc...so be sure to click on one of those to see them! I gotta say that I am totally loving the vintage graphics on all of this stuff, great stock art! The last photo is a super close-up of the BATICHICA Bottle Cap. I really love the sound of that word, Batichica! Speaking of her, these photos were all sent in by our good friend Milotik who lives in Argentina ( Thank You! ). These DC Comics Bottle Caps are a part of his amazing Batgirl Toy Collection. You see, Milotik's main collecting focus is on her & that's very cool. Alright, I don't want to be flamed with negative comments about this post, please. I know, I know that this is one of the "Schumacher Films" but it is a part of bat-history. So, here we go! This is the TV commercial that appeared on the VHS Video Tape of the 1995 BATMAN FOREVER movie. It's for the film's music soundtrack. There are a few very small samples of music in it. Now, while doing this post, I went to Amazon to research it a little bit I found out that they have a flash player embedded on their site where you can listen to longer ( better ) samplings of the songs. That's kinda cool. Plus, I noticed that you can buy this CD ( used ) for one penny! Yes, 1 cent! Now, that's a good deal right there, ha ha! Here's a link if ya wanna check it out, just click HERE!
OK Kids, here's some really great photos to totally drool over, ha! While at the 2010 Comic Con the Mattel Toy Company gave a presentation of some upcoming toys they will release later this year & early 2011. This post is about their DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS Action Figures & we're mainly covering the Batman-related characters. As you can see they're gonna make some really great figures for this series. Just to be clear, what is shown here is "WAVE16". Wave 14 is shipping now & Wave 15 will come out in early fall. But back to Wave 16, look at what they have here! We got AZRAEL from the 1993 Knightfall storyline, the Villain BANE looking all buff & mean, The RIDDLER ( looking like he's from the Silver-Age, cool! ), & 2 different versions of Dick Grayson as ROBIN, The Boy Wonder! The Robin figures look the same to me except for the heads. One kind of looks like he's from the 1940's, while the other one reminds me of the 1970's Super Friends. Please tell me, which Robin do you like the best? Alright, now the very last photo is some of the mini-figures from the ACTION LEAGUE series. They're gonna have a ton of these of Superman, Green Lantern, etc...but here are 2 favorites, Batman & The Joker! I really like these, they're pretty cool!
I found this extremely freakin' cool BATMAN - RIDDLER Custom Drag Boat over at the Drag Boat City website! They have a classifieds area where a guy posted these pics of this boat he has for sale & the asking price is only $15,000.000. It's located in New York. As you can see from the photos it has a RIDDLER THEME & is totally customized. The paint job is pretty amazing & it even has custom upholstery too. To prove it he has had a ton of tattoo work done all over his body. The artwork is very well done & covers many different themes of the character. You have different comic book logos, many different villains ( The Joker, Penguin, & Riddler ), a few variations of Batman himself, the GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) Blimp, The Joker Card, & even a "POW! & BAM!" from the 1966 TV Show!
