‘Beetlejuice 2’ May See Tim Burton Returning to the Director’s Chair

Some of you might already know and to others it may be news, but Warner Bros. is moving ahead with plans to produce a sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 hit movie Beetlejuice. And while there have been groans of pain from the general populace due to the fact that most of the original cast and crew appear to want nothing to do with the sequel, it looks as if there may be at least a small light at the end of the tunnel. If the rumormill is to be believed, Burton himself will be coming back to direct the second flick.

Burton has already been working in the background, talking to the writers of Beetlejuice 2, but now has expressed his interest in taking the director's chair. As the rumor goes, he was ready to drop out another project - Fox's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - but has since arranged to do both flicks. And while we still have no word on whether Michael Keaton or Winona Ryder will be coming back, Burton's presence may be enough to draw them in.

So there you have it folks, Beetlejuice 2 just might avoid turning into a pile of rehashed crap doing little other than using its iconic name to make Warner Bros. a few more bucks. What do the Nerd Readers think? Do we even need a sequel? Would a Burton/Keaton/Ryder combo actually make it worth watching?

Thanks to /film for the heads-up.
