Sailor Moon: Princess Serenity 03

sailor moon cosplay - princess serenity 03

Through 3 different adaptations of the series, Princess Serenity's death has been portrayed in 3 different ways. In the original manga, the young princess commits suicide when Prince Endymion died protecting her during Moon Kingdom's downfall. In the anime, both perished in the attack, while in the live action series, it was the Princess herself that destroyed Moon Kingdom out of grief, as Endymion was killed during the war to keep the two apart.

It doesn't really matter how you're heard her story, I'm pretty sure a lot of people still know Sailor Moon, even after all these years. However, I'm surprised someone is still cosplaying her in Comiket! And such a beutiful dress too. Nice cosplaying!

Sailor Moon Musicals: Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Neptune

sailor moon musical cosplay - sailor uranus, sailor pluto, and sailor neptune

Also known as the "Outer Senshi", Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Neptune form a secondary group, along with Sailor Saturn. Previously, all of them preferred to work alone, but Sailor Uranus was able to trust Sailor Neptune and Sailor Pluto after fighting along side with them.

Sailor Pluto is known as the Guardian of Time, while Sailor Neptune is the Soldier of Ocean, and Sailor Uranus is the Soldier of the Sky.

I'm not even sure if they are cosplayers or the official cast of the musical, but they are very pretty. Thanks to Soyoungim for the photo!

Naruto: Hyuga Neji 02

naruto cosplay - hyuga neji 02

Highly proficient in the Gentle Fist style of combat, Neji is the prodigy of the Hyuga clan who has the ability to replicate the styl'e's most powerful techniques through simple observation. He further refines these abilities and fix its inherent flaws.

Beautiful cosplay! I wish I could read the Chinese characters on the lower right as it's probably the cosplayer's name. Good job on this though!

D. Gray-man: Road Kamelot

d. gray-man cosplay - road kamelot

Known as the "Dreams" of Noah, Road Kamelot if the eldest child and ninth disciple who can travel through dimensions without using Noah's Ark. She is the only one capable of programming Noah's Ark as she is the oldest, despite her teenage-like appearance. Although she hates humans, she grows fond of Allen Walker, often seen kissing him when she meets him.

Beautiful cosplay! Her eyes are really captivating, and it makes me wonder where she got those contact lenses. Love the expression too, great work!

EDIT: Thanks to Soyoungim for commenting this cosplayer is Miyoc!

Hunter x Hunter: Killua Zoldyck

hunter x hunter cosplay - killua zoldyck

Seemingly nothing more than your typical, rich, spoiled boy, Killua is actually a ruthless killer who can be extremely violent and bloodthirsty. He was tortured since birth, conditioning his body to withstand poison, electricity, and pain. Despite the troublesome childhood, he can be cheeky and mischievous. And he loves his sweets.

There's something odd about this picture. I think someone threw a yellow tint over the original image, but I'm not entirely certain. It's a very nice cosplay though. Great work!

Dead or Alive: Kasumi 02

dead or alive cosplay - kasumi 02

Known as "the Kunoichi of Destiny", Kasumi is a skilled ninja trained in the Mugen Tenshin Style of Ninjutsu and was to become the 18th Master of her clan. Instead, she ran away to enter the Dead or Alive tournament in order to defeat Raidou, the person responsible for crippling her brother, Hayate. This decision labeled her as a nukenin, a runaway shinobi, obligating her to run from her former comrades who must hunt her for her treacherous act.

Beautiful cosplay! I think there was a PVC figure with the same pose. I really love her long hair. Thank you for sharing this! And if anyone knows who the cosplayer or photographer is, do leave me a comment!

EDIT: Thanks to Miss Reita for the information! This is the Italian cosplayer Giorgia, and you may find all of her photos in her website.

Princess Tutu: Princess Tutu 02

princess tutu cosplay - princess tutu

The elegant and graceful dancer, Princess Tutu is Arima Ahiru's alter ego who is unselfishly in love with Prince Mytho. She is caught in a dilemma of saying her true feeling because if she is to confess to him, she will turn into a speck of light and vanish forever. Thus, she fulfills her duty and collects the shards of Mytho's heart in order to give him true happiness.

Beautiful cosplay! I'm glad a real ballerina decided to cosplay her since I'm a huge fan of the series. I only wish there was a Rue or Mytho with her. Great job!

Black★Rock Shooter: Black Rock Shooter 02

vocaloid cosplay - black rock shooter - kuroi mato 02

With the popularity of Black Rock Shooter rising, Japanese Anime director Yamamoto Yutaka is said to take on the project of directing the series Black Rock Shooter, set to be released early spring of 2010.

It's amazing how a fan-made anime music video gained so much popularity that it's become an anime series. I'm very excited to see what Huke will come up with.

Hopefully, the fans of Black Rock Shooter will like this cosplay and let it tide them over til we see the anime. Nice work!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama and Hiei 03

yu yu hakusho cosplay - kurama and hiei 03

Kurama first met Hiei a year before they met Yusuke. Hiei was chasing a demon at the time whom he thought had something to do with his twin sister's disappearance. Upon entering the human world, he comes across a powerful energy signature belonging to Kurama, who was still healing from his wounds when he was still the demon fox known as Youko.

Kurama's schoolmate, Kitajima Maya, was later taken by the very demon Hiei was pursuing. That was the first time the two of them worked together and had become friends ever since.

This is way too adorable for words. I really love these characters very much and am so glad there are still people who cosplay them! Great job!

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata 04

lucky star cosplay - izumi konata 04

Well-known for her curious question about chocolate cornets, Izumi Konata is the leader and the shortest of the main characters in the series. She works in a cosplay cafe in Akihabara in order to fund her expensive hobby of collecting manga, anime, and games. She loves to play online games late into the night, which is the reason why she tends to fall asleep in class.

I don't think she ever got the answer to which end of the chocolate cornet is the head. As for me? I'm wondering about Japan's uniforms; I know they have two sets, one for summer and one for winter, but are they usually two different colors too? Anyway, great job with this cosplay! Thanks to fuffly for sharing!

‘The Walking Dead’: Magazine Cover, New Characters, Games & The Prison at Comic Con!

RickGrimes_header

Entertainment Weekly has been on a roll in the last few weeks, releasing several new shots featuring the cast of AMC's The Walking Dead. You had to know it was leading up to something bigger and that comes in the form of three collectible covers highlighting Season 4 and new details on the show. Not a bad way for Robert Kirkman and company to promote the final push to San Diego Comic Con.

Featuring a cover story on the upcoming season, with executive producer Greg Nicotero revealing that Season 4 will premiere with 150 walkers, each collectible cover will be sought after in some way. If you're a fan of Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus or an amazingly more mature Chandler Riggs, each cover is going to be worth it. Check out each cover after the jump, get an insider look at the new threat to the survivors, new characters and more.

RickGrimes

NormanReedus

ChandlerRiggs

My oh my, just look at how Carl has grown. This isn't the same kid we were all introduced to back in Season 1, and while the series itself will only see a small time jump, Chandler, like all child actors, still ages at a regular pace. And while that'll be great for the teenage girls in the audience, it could spell disaster for the future of his character. It's no secret Kirkman is the Joss Whedon of his universe and will kill a fan favourite at a moment's notice, but according to executive producer and new show runner, Scott Gimple, the real threat is going to be who's writing the scripts.

The new threat is something you can't just stab in the face. You can't talk sense to it. You can't make a truce with it. It's beyond all that. It would be a threat in any world, but in this world it is much more terrifying.

In the article Gimple leads into that quote by saying the threat is located inside the walls of the prison, leading many to believe this new threat is disease. With hospitals no longer sustainable and medicine running low it's bound to happen, thank god for new characters.

Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. actor. Season 4, The Walking Dead.

For the past two seasons if someone was injured you went to Herschel, but his training was as a veterinarian so his knowledge on human medicine was limited. Now a new character, another known to fans of the comic book series, is being introduced. Described as a "former Army medic," Bob Stookey, as played by Larry Gilliard Jr., will already be around by the time the new season comes our way, having been found by Daryl Dixon about a week before the events of Season 4.

Altered slighty from his character in both the comics and the prequel novels Gimple said:

I think he's seen things go bad over and over, and winding up in this stable place doesn't shake him from his experience. He struggles with that. You can see there's something deeper and darker that's going on with this character, just from the first episode, we don't really know what it is. We just know he's got some issues that he's dealing with.

With AMC hosting a panel at SDCC this Friday you can bet the questions are going to flow, but before then, many fans will have a chance to see the prison - though a much smaller, more convention friendly prison.

photo-16

Taken by an individual from inside the convention, this display of the survivor's home is being steadily constructed on the convention floor. It's currently unknown who took the photo, as the link from Bleeding Cool went belly up, but for those that will get to actually be there chances are it'll have something to do with Walking Dead fan signings and previews of Season 4. For those of us unable to attend at least there's a chance to create the ultimate zombie defense vehicle to be unveiled by Kirkman later this year.

mzl_sftfjqyg_320x480-75

Called "The Walking Dead: Chop Shop by Hyundai." the app, currently available only on IOS or through WalkingDeadChopShop.com, will allow players to pick one of three Hyundai sponsored vehicles. Once chosen you can outfit your car with various weapons using points you start off with to survive any zombie encounter, gaining extra points by answer trivia on the Walking Dead series. And once your car is complete, you put it on display where it is scored based on defense, offense, speed, and stealth.

However, if you're really looking for a challenge enter your car in the contest, Robert will select a winner and if yours is chosen, it will actually be created and put on display during New York Comic Con.

Interview: Michael Troy on His Indiegogo Project ‘The Stonewall Riots’

Stonewall

44 years ago last month, the gay liberation movement began in earnest with the Stonewall riots, when patrons of Greenwich Village's Stonewall Inn refused to stand down to police during one of their frequent raids on gay bars. The riots had a galvanizing effect on the fledgling gay rights movement in the U.S. In his inaugural address earlier this year, President Obama listed it as a significant moment in the history of civil rights.

To share the story with today's audience, writer Michael Troy has launched an Indiegogo campaign to finance the comic book The Stonewall Riots for Bluewater Productions. We had the opportunity to ask Troy about Stonewall's impact, Indiegogo, and how the comics industry can be more inclusive to readers of all sexual orientations.

For those who might not know about the Stonewall riots, why do they hold an important place in the history of gay rights?

Michael Troy: The Stonewall riots are what people largely credit as the beginning of the modern gay rights movement, although there were certainly others before it. But as Stonewall is the most well-known, it seemed like the place to start in order to get people's attention. It certainly had a lot of fascinating aspects.

Over the decades, the riots have been featured in numerous films and TV documentaries. What advantage is there to telling the story through comics?

Troy: The advantage to comics is always an "unlimited budget." There's a chance to educate a young LGBTQ audience that may not know "where they came from." Comics are a great wealth of entertainment, as apparently Hollywood has discovered.

There are certainly exceptions, but American comics largely tend to portray white heteronormative experiences. Do you think there's anything the industry can do to be more inclusive?

Troy: I think that's hard to answer. You would like to say Hollywood is story-driven, gay or not - but sadly, recent years have proved them to be even more money-driven. Brokeback Mountain was a good story that happened to be about two gay cowboys; now, the major studios wouldn't touch Soderbergh's Behind the Candelabra as it was deemed "too gay." I suppose they could be more inclusive by not using that phrase, for starters.

stonewall2

With the Supreme Court's recent decision to strike down a key section of the Defense of Marriage Act, the public's acceptance of the gay community seems to be at a record high. Did that play a role in your decision to crowdfound the project via Indiegogo?

Troy: I wish we were calculated enough to use the death of DOMA as a huge P.R. advantage, but our campaign was already in place when the ruling was announced. I don't think it could hurt.

What has the reaction to the Indiegogo campaign been like?

Troy: I think it's been mostly positive. People seem to not know that much about Stonewall, which makes it seem more important [that] we're doing it. Stonewall strikes a nerve with people and it should.

I think I'd enjoy the project more if people who don't really need it weren't jumping on the bandwagon-like known celebrities-and watering down the concept and edging out the smaller guys like us. HELP! We still really need it!

What do you want readers to take away from the book?

Troy: I want people to know being gay isn't just "my two moms." It's been an American struggle. Not just an LGBTQ one. I want it to be part of American history because it is.

The Indiegogo campaign for The Stonewall Riots runs through August 2. You can check it out here.

SDCC ’13: ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Character Portraits

xmen-days

Remember back in April when Bryan Singer released that behind the scenes shot of Sir Patrick Stewart? It wasn't just to tease us X-Men fans before Stewart started filming his scenes for X-Men: Days of Future Past, it was part of a series of character portraits, right in time for Comic Con.

Originally hosted on the official Tumblr page for X-Men, but now seemingly gone, the set revealed DOFP stars Ian McKellen, Daniel Cudmore, Patrick Stewart and newcomer Omar Sy in their alternate timeline attire with Hugh Jackman and his dual timelines also on display. Shortly after that, and thanks to Superhero Hype, X-Men: First Class alumni Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till were also revealed. Take a first look at everyone below.

Screen-Shot-2013-07-18-at-22_19_10

Screen-Shot-2013-07-18-at-22_20_03

Everyone looks pretty badass and it's good to see that Omar, as Bishop, doesn't stray too far from his comic book counterpart. And it's really cool to see that Patrick and Ian will be back together on the same screen next year, and in this case actually working together. And this is only a portion of the DOFP cast, with many stars including Peter Dinklage, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart still under tight wraps.

X-Men: Days of Future Past starring Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

‘PlayStation All-Stars Island’ Is Not A Joke. We Think.

c8uWd3p - Imgur

If you asked me to make up the worst game possible on the spot, a collection of infinite runners with video game franchise characters shoehorned in that's free-to-play and sponsored would be pretty close. Maybe not up there with Custer's Revenge: The Revenge, but pretty close.

I bring this up because PlayStation All-Stars Island is a free-to-play mobile game consisting of infinite runners based around Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, inFamous, and Gravity Rush. Sponsored by Coke Zero. Really.

Turned up courtesy of the detectives at NeoGAF, the Zoink Games-developed app sounds, well, terrible:

The Island is divided into 4 zones, with each zone representing one franchise (Uncharted, LBP Karting, inFAMOUS and Gravity Rush) and containing a mini game. All the mini games are based on successful mobile game play and are endless, allowing the player to keep going until they fail. Players are tasked with collecting Coke Zero orbs that are used to unlock special Coke Zero 'MAKE IT POSSIBLE' moves. There is one experience bar per mini game, per character and the player must fill all of the board to have all of the special moves.

Scan enough Coke Zero cans and you can play as Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter. Again, really.

Probably what grinds my gears, personally, the most about this is that this will probably be Cole McGrath's swan song in gaming. Sucker Punch has confirmed that Cole is for-real, completely, utterly, totally dead and won't be popping up in inFamous: Second Son. Not that I'm opposed to Delsin Rowe, the new guy, but ouch, Sony. That's harsh.

Apparently this will be on mobile before the end of the summer. We'll be curious to see how it's received.

This Elaborate ‘Hobbit House’ Has To Be Demolished Because Nobody Got A Building Permit

Hobbit House in Pembrokeshire built by Charlie Hague and Megan Williams and slated for demolition due to lack of permits

British couple Charlie Hague and Megan Williams were living in a caravan for "about four years" by Hague's estimate, but they decided they needed a house when Williams got pregnant. They spent between $15,000 and $23,000 to build a Hobbit house from local materials on his parent's land.

The structure is made with local wood and straw bales with lime plaster, as well as a grass roof. It's about 20 feet in diameter, with one bedroom and one bathroom, as seen in the video below. There's even room for a drum kit, which is an awesome thing to hang on to when you're broke and living in a caravan for years and then have a newborn.

The problem, other than the fact we don't have a cool Hobbit house like this one, is that they didn't get any building permits first. You can probably see where this is going.

Pembrokeshire Council issued a demolition notice, saying the home causes "harm to the character and appearance of the countryside", and the Planning Inspectorate upheld the ruling on appeal. Which means Hague and Williams have two months to demolish their Hobbit house.

Hague has started a petition at change.org asking the council to grant planning permission retroactively. We're not sure why a governmental agency in Wales would be interested in anything posted on change.org, but good luck, dude.

Hobbit House in Pembrokeshire Council built by Charlie Hague and Megan Williams and slated for demolition due to lack of permits

We're having a hard time being sympathetic about this, for a few reasons. First, the amount of money they spent on this could have gone towards a downpayment on a legally-approved dwelling. Second, the petition includes the phrase, "we have simply created shelter as is our human right." Government workers love it when you say you have the right to build stuff without their silly permits.

Then there's the video below, in which Hague smiles as he says, "In terms of planning permission, I decided when we started that I wasn't going to bother trying to get planning permission. It took awhile to convince my dad that that was the way to go, but he kind of knew that he didn't have much of a chance to go ahead and try to get it. Also, I've lived here all my life and built treehouses around here, and it just sort of seems like a bigger version of that."

*forehead slap*

So, yeah. They're probably going to have to demolish the cool Hobbit house after pouring $15,000 to $23,000 and several hours of labor into it, resources a family with a newborn can't afford to waste. Who could have guessed that the guy who didn't comb his hair and roll up the other sleeve before giving a videotaped interview might exercise poor judgement?

Nobody wins here. R.I.P., Hobbit house. *tips a 40 of Ent-draught*

Lane is the Cutest Little HARLEY QUINN in the Whole Wide World!

OK, I know it's not a contest or anything, but out of all the photos submitted this year to the Bat-Blog in celebration of Halloween, this Super-Cute Costume of HARLEY QUINN has got to be the most precious one! This pretty little girl's name is Lane and, even though she's only a few months old, she experienced her very first Halloween in complete and total style! Her Mom, Jennifer, said,
"I started sewing it before she was born and had to make a few modifications when she finally arrived ( she was smaller than I imagined ). I did all the hand smocking around the neckline in a diamond pattern to be reminiscent of Harley Quinn and then accented it with tiny white pom poms. The black and white dress and diaper cover have diamond appliques and of course there's also a hood and mask, which she wore without any fuss - pretty great for a newborn!"
Yes, VERY great I gotta say! Thanks Jennifer for sharing this special event & the wonderful photos. Lane is the Cutest Little Harley Quinn...ever!
