Singer Tweets Opening Page To ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Script

The forthcoming Marvel Mutant movie from FOX, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, has to count as one of the more ambitious comic to screen adaptions to date. Not only is it folding in some of the characters from the first three X-Men movies with ones from the more recent prequel X-Men: First Class, but it carries a title that hints it will pull heavily from the classic Chris Claremont and John Byrne comic arc.

Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender both back as Magneto, Charles Xavier being played byJames McAvoy and Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman in for Wolverine all over again. A script written by Jane Goldman, Simon Kinberg and First Class director Matthew Vaughn. It almost seems like too much movie to work, doesn’t it?

Well, the film is in the early stages of pre-production so other than casting rumors, there won’t be much else for news, right? WRONG. Director Bryan Singer took to twitter to not only brag that he flies first class a lot, but that he his reading a draft of the script.

Before you strain your eyes trying to read that, I’ll let you know that it’s a quote from Charles Darwin’s Origin of the Species, and it does offer at least a little insight on what the mutants might face in the future and the past.

“As new species are formed through natural evolution, others will become rarer and rare, and finally extinct. The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most.”

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to hit theaters on July 18th, 2014. No word yet if Singer has pinned ‘Sentinels’ on Pinterest just yet.
