Here's an extremely well-done music video tribute to the BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT Movie. The editing is very cool & the song is pretty great too...very clever! ( Thank you to Satish, the Bat-Blog Reader who sent it ).

Etsy Artist Creates BATMAN, THE JOKER, & HARLEY QUINN Hand-Made Plush Dolls
I met a new friend the other day who's a very talented artist. She loves Batman & also likes to create arts & craft projects. In fact, here are a few examples right here. Check it out! She knitted these character plush dolls by hand. I mean, the knitting must have taken hours, if not, days to make. Here are BATMAN, THE JOKER, & HARLEY QUINN!! They each measure around 15" tall & the last photo shows her with one of the dolls for scale-size. I knew my readers would love seeing these & she was kind enough to send some great photos. Thanks Maris, they're true works of ART!! She has also made a few others worth looking at like Jimi Hendrix, Boba Fett, Star Wars Stormtrooper, etc... Here's a link to check it out:

Now remember, this game is supposed to have a release date of August 25th, 2009. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for all the breaking news about this cool video game...we're really excited here about this one, it looks GREAT!!

Please Join Us To Help Fight Childhood Cancer!
I started to think about the Bat-Blog the other night, the way it's connected to thousands of people, the strange way I'm able to communicate a message that gets read by huge group of people. Then, I started to wonder if the situation I am in yields any moral or ethical concerns. After some thought I came to realize that it does. I mean, what if I were to show support every now & then to a different charity and, what if, by doing so, just a few readers are inspired by that to take action then would it give my life more or less meaning? I think it would add to it, don't you think? So, after a lot of thought I decided this would be a brand-new policy. Now, please don't think I am trying to be preachy or high-minded. I just think that if I were able to do this, & did do it, that it might be for the greater good. So, as a first test I am asking every single reader to please donate anything they can to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Every dollar helps. I mean, if all you can afford is $5.00 then please send that...it adds up. This very well known charity truly does a lot of good for all children, especially those going through cancer treatments. Now, if every reader gave just one dollar then that would add up to thousands & that would really help a lot. In fact, it could even save a life. I guess, maybe legally, I need to state that I am not connected with this charity in any way, nor is the "Batman character" or Warner Bros or DC Comics. I know the main focus of my blog is to spread the appreciation of Batman & the joys of being a collector and so on but wouldn't it be great if, by accident, it could do some actual good in the world? I think that would go with the ideals of the Batman character...to rid evil or help those in need. I know it sounds pretty silly, but I think it could be a great experiment. So, Please join the Bat-Blog in supporting St. Jude's Hospital this month. Please click on the large link button up above for more information on how you can get involved & while you're there maybe donate a dollar or two... Thank You.
Wacky Crazy BATMAN AND ROBIN Face Paint Make-Up Creation!
My friend Dave sent me this photo the other day saying he thought of me when he saw it. Thanks Dave, ummmm maybe? Ha Ha! This photo is hilarious! This guy had some face paint make-up done, maybe at some art event ( or maybe for a party? ) where he is BOTH Batman & Robin...at the same time! It's a very cool concept but also sort of creepy. What do you think? Please leave a comment down below.

Here's an extremely amazing vintage family photo from a new friend of mine named Jim. This is him, & another kid, wearing some 1960's Batman Halloween Costumes. 1989 Batman Movie Batmobile Toy Cars & Joker Vehicles
Since today ( June 23rd, 2009 ) is the Official 20th Anniversary of Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie I thought I would do a quick post featuring a few toys vehicles made around the time the film came out. Now, it's totally imposable for this to be a definitive list. Mainly because the marketing people during that time went totally crazy trying to create every single kind of toy variation & merchandise that you can think of, ha ha! But here's a few nice examples to help take you down memory lane. The 1st one is a diecast toy car made by Ertl. This is the Joker Van, which was weird because it wasn't in the movie! They also made the Bat-Wing & the Batmobile which were pretty accurate to the film props. The 2nd & 3rd photos are 2 Model Kits of vehicles we saw in the movie. Joker's Goon Car &, of course, the Batmobile Car! The last photo is another Batmobile but this one was made by Toy Biz. At the time Toy Biz was the company that made the Action Figures, a Batcave Play Set, Vehicles ( for the figures ), & a few other misc items.
Videos: Batman 1989 Movie - THE MAKING OF A HERO Documentary Film
Since today ( June 23rd, 2009 ) is the Official 20th Anniversary of the 1989 Batman Film by Tim Burton, starring Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson, I thought I would post this excellent documentary about the making of the movie. There's a ton of really interesting "behind the scene" clips...please enjoy!

BATMAN & ROBIN SUPPORT THE WAR! 1940's PSA Advertisement
Here's an interesting piece of Bat-History! In the March, 1944 Issue of BOY COMMANDOS ( # 6 ) Batman, Robin, and Alfred join the Paper Drive effort for the war. In this Public Service Announcement Ad ( PSA ) Alfred explains to a small boy how recycling newspaper can help the US Troops during World War II. It's a bit of American Propaganda aimed at supporting the fight against Germany's Hitler & Japan's Hirohito. Be sure to click on the small graphic up above to see a larger, easier to read, version.

1966 Hot Wheels Batmobile Die-Cast Car with Dioramas!
A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Mark, recently sent us these pics from his toy collection. He wanted to share pics of a brand-new set of toys he found called Motomax American Graffiti "Moments in Time" Dioramas. Basically they are plastic bases with a fixed background & scene that has a clear cover to display your Matchbox or Hot Wheels car. They are 1:64 scale & look pretty awesome! The scenes are stuff like "Country Store", "Mechanic's Shop", & stuff like that ( the names are on the bases ). I think these are pretty clever. Mark said that they're kinda hard to find but he has had some luck finding them at Toys-R-Us & Wal-Mart. They cost around $10.00 each. Thanks for sharing & sending the great pics Mark, I appreciate that.

Video: SUPER CAPERS Movie With ADAM WEST & 1966 Batmobile Car
In 2009, Ray Griggs wrote & produced a superhero-parody movie called SUPER CAPERS. The basic story is about a good guy who with no powers joins a superhero team with no clue against a bad guy with no shame. The main character wants to be a hero very badly. But he has NO powers so he is sent to a special school to learn to be a superhero. To get to the school he hires a Taxi Driver to take him, who happens to be Adam West, & the taxi is a 1966 Batmobile Replica Car! To be honest, I have not seen the film yet but it is quickly becoming a cult favorite. I might have to rent it on my next video store trip. The movie has a pretty cool promotional website worth checking out, just click HERE!

The Very Very Very First Appearance of Batman!!
Recently I have been thinking about how this year, 2009, is the 70th Anniversary of one of the greatest comic book characters ever, Batman! The weird thing is that DC Comics ( Warner Bros ) has not been hyping that fact very much. Oh, they have mentioned it a little but there's NO huge fanfare like I would like to see. So, then later I got to wonder what was THE very very first appearance of Batman? I'm not talking about Detective Comics # 27 where they introduced the character. I started to wonder if they showed him in any other way as sort of an introduction or teaser. Well, here it is! The graphic you see up above is the VERY FIRST TIME anybody, mainly children, got to see the Dark Knight! This image is from the 1939 issue of Action Comics # 12. It hyped the fact that there would be a brand-new superhero added to their lineup & said to look for the May issue of Detective Comics! Now, you really have to wonder...what did kids think when they 1st saw this small image of the Caped Crusader for the very first time? Wow! That must have been really cool!! Looking at the sale figures for that book they must have loved it, ha ha!
HARLEY QUINN WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS - Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Game
OK, most Batman Fans & Game Geeks are totally excited about the brand-new, soon to be released, BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Video Game. So far all of the game play videos & trailers have looked really amazing! One character, a villain, that everybody is really starting to love is Harley Quinn! Of course we're talking about the girlfriend of The Joker! So, as sort of a celebration, I created these 2 Harley Quinn Wallpapers you can use to brighten your desktop or use as a background in a MySpace layout...enjoy!

New BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Action League Figures in Stores Now!
Our good friend "Batmobile Billy" sent us a photo from his iPhone recently of his trip to Toys-R-Us in Oklahoma City, OK. It looks like there are some new Mattel BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Action League Figures on the shelves & if you go to Toys-R-Us they have an exclusive "Arch Rivals Battle Pack" with 6 special figures ( Be sure to click on the photo up above for a larger version & it's the package in the middle ). Now, these are the smaller-type action figures that I guess are made for very little kids. But, we adult bat-toy collectors really love these too because they're so gosh darn cute! Thank you for sending the cool pic Billy & if any other readers learn about any new pieces of Batman Merchandise ( anything Bat-related! ) then please send us a message. Our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this website.
FUNNY BATMAN HUMOR: Photos, Pictures, & Comic Strips
This post is just a simple "image dump" where each picture is pretty self-explanatory. They are all totally funny in their own way but I guess the 1st one needs a little explaining. My good friend Dave was recently traveling through Oklahoma when all of a sudden he's like, "Oh My God! Stop the car! We gotta get a photo of this funny mailbox for Tommy's Bat-Blog!!". Ya'see Dave & a buddy were driving around near Stillwater, OK when all of a sudden they saw this mailbox for BAT MAN. Actually, at one time, it was for "BATEMAN", but the "E" fell off, ha ha ha! ( Thanks Dave for sending the wacky photo, I love it! ). Oh yeah, the comic strip FULL FRONTAL NERDITY is kinda small here but if you click on it you can see a larger, more readable, version...please do so because it's pretty funny! Plus, you might wanna visit that cartoonist's website because most of his stuff is just really great.

RARE Batman Collectibles From The BATFAN Collection
OK, For people who have been reading the Bat-Blog for quite awhile ( thanks! ) you all know one special contributor nicknamed "The BATFAN". He has donated a lot of cool contest prizes & has sent us photos from his amazing Batman Art Collection. Well, here are a few pieces of Batman Memorabilia he has in his personal collection that he wanted to share because they're all so extremely unusual & very rare. The 1st two items are Batman-Shaped Ceramic Clocks that were made & produced in Japan. Plus, they were ONLY SOLD IN JAPAN too so they're kinda hard to find in the USA. They were issued in the 1980's, just a few years before the 1989 Batman Movie. They're both so extremely cool that I actually can't decide which one I like best, ha ha! The company who made them is named CREATE & they also made the 2 Glass Mugs you see below the clocks. OK, Now the last photo is a set of Ceramic Thimbles made in England ( UK ) by the Berkshire China company in 1996. The weird thing is Batman looks like he's the "movie version" while all the others seem like they're from the "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon. Plus, the colors are sort of off a little bit. But, they're totally wonderful to look at & I love the artwork they have! All of these items are really great & I know a lot of collectors are gonna totally droll over these pics, thanks Batfan!
