New BATMAN and SUPERMAN MOVIE MEZ-ITZ TOYS Photos From The 2013 TOY FAIR
Over at the MTV GEEK website they just shared some really fun exclusive photos from the booth of Mezco Toys at the 2013 TOY FAIR. Here, we get to see some of the new MEZ-ITZ Batman Figures. The 1st pic shows the new Bat-Pod from the recent DARK KNIGHT Movies. I like this toy, it's pretty cool and kinda cute too!
Next up is a version of the Classic Batmobile that comes with a figure...hmm, kind of interesting.
The last two pics show some item that have been out awhile but I thought I'd share them n case somebody has not seen them yet. The one cool thing is the super-huge giant-sized figures. I really like those. Plus, the large Superman and Wonder Woman ones are new. Oh yeah, those smaller Superman Figures include in that same photo are ones for the brand-new SUPERMAN Movie.
Destiny leaks coming thick and fast before Sunday's launch
Bungie's Destiny game is being formally revealed to the world very soon, so it's no surprise that things have started to leak out into the hands of keen Bungie fans. Journalists, gaming magazines and popular websites have been given the heads up so as to be ready for the big day, presumably under a tight embargo.
So it seems that Joystiq has jumped the gun with this poster (from Gamestop) of the Fallen, presumably one of the aliens that will feature in the game:
They have to be aliens as this twitter leak suggests the Fallen have four arms...
Une avant-go t des ennemis de #Destiny ? twitter.com/_RaHaN_/status...
- RaHaN (@_RaHaN_) February 14, 2013
That fellow looks a little more fearsome than a Promeathan Knight eh?
Arcadesushi reported that:
"Best Buy pre-order materials from Destructroid seem to indicate that Destiny will be a first-person shooter that revolves around the arrival of something called "the Traveler." There's mention of survivors, Golden Ages, civilizations, the last safe city on Earth, and a possible interconnected universe and story that will be the "evolution of entertainment.""
If it's true Destiny is a first person shooter, that will be a relief for many I'm sure. Tune in tommorrow for more Destiny details and we'll find out of it's been worth the wait.

Paramount Is Funding A B-Movie Unit Called ‘Equinox’
Sadly not a remake of this.
Way too many thrillers set in space are just Aliens with the serial numbers filed off. For every Event Horizon, there’s a dozen movies that apparently just can’t shake Sir Ridley Scott. That said, it looks like Equinox might buck the trend for once, since there aren’t any aliens in the plot description.
Plenty of crazy people though!
Really, the good news here is that Paramount is putting together a B-movie unit willing to fund and release movies like this:
Paramount's low-budget genre Insurge label is going sci-fi with Equinox, which is being written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. Project details are being kept secret but it is being described as "Dead Calm in space," according to sources.
Dead Calm, for those who don’t remember their late ’80s Australian thrillers, was a movie about Nicole Kidman being trapped on a boat with Sam Neill and Billy Zane. It’s actually a pretty good movie, marking one of the few movies where Zane just doesn’t fall on the scenery like a rapacious termite, so if you’re going to crib from a movie for a space thriller, that’s the movie to crib from.
We hope Paramount keeps it up. There’s been a distinct lack of lower-budget genre movies out of Hollywood lately, and it’s really there that you often find the most creativity and style. And, failing that, it’ll be nice to have another source of cheesy genre movies beyond Lionsgate.

New Trailer For ‘The Host’ Defenestrates Saoirse Ronan, Still Reminds Us Of ‘Twilight’
Stephenie Meyer wrote another book after the Twilight series which was called The Host and was #1 on The New York Times Bestseller List for 26 weeks. Reread that sentence while screaming if you want to know what’s reverberating in my head as I lie awake at night.
The Host is coming to theaters on March 29th, staring Saoirse Ronan as a body-snatched human who is the only one (among billions) able to resist her alien host so she can go find her teenaged boyfriend. Ugh. I already summed up my feelings about that here, so I won’t rehash it.
The new trailer below isn’t quite as cheesy as the last one, and there’s even some unintentional humor, like Saoirse Ronan jumping out a window followed by a proclamation that “this one wants to live.” In Stephenie Meyer’s world, self-defenestration is how you show people how much you love life. I still don’t know if Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, The Truman Show) can make this thing watchable.
I’ll have to cut this post short due to internet outages. I blame the asteroid. I also blame Jupiter, for not catching the asteroid with its gravitational pull. Dammit, Jupiter, you had ONE JOB.

It’s time once again for our Friday comics cosplay feature, casting the spotlight on the best comics related costumery from the cosplay community. We’re focusing on those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and also the photographers who capture them for posterity.
This week we’re featuring some awesome cosplay of Mystique, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Lady Blackhawk, Fantomex, Robin, Nova, Wonder Girl, Hawkeye and Red Hood!
Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community that thrives in communities like our friends at TheSuperheroCostumingForum.com. Each week we aim to spotlight our favorite costumes and, in addition, we also host a regular cosplay contest, with the results forming a special theme week. We invite all cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit pictures of their work that relates to the theme (or any cosplay in general!) to our Flickr group to be considered. We'll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.
Our current theme is:

Set the Table, Have Some People For Dinner, ‘Hannibal’ Has a Start Date!
Finally! It only seems like we’ve been hearing about this FOR-EVER!
Set your DVRs (or VCRs if you’re, like, a dinosaur) for Thursday April 4th at 10 pm for the series premiere of Hannibal. The series from Bryan Fuller follows the fruitful collaboration between FBI Agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and criminal psychologist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) before Graham realizes that his colleague is a cannibalistic serial killer. Laurence Fishburne co-stars as FBI boss Jack Crawford.
Hannibal will be inheriting the time slot of recently vacated by Do No Harm, the Jekyll & Hyde drama that lasted exactly two episodes being the least-watched show on network television.
What do you say Bastards, excited to finally see Hannibal?

These People are Starring in ‘Transformers 4′ – Weep for Them
All right, maybe it’s not all that bad. I can guarantee Nicola Peltz and Brenton Thwaites will make more money with this film than I will in a year. Probably in several years, but at least I can hold my head high and proclaim I’ve never been in a Michael Bay Transformers movie.
Ugh, look at what an old wanker this makes me sound like. Stupid kids, succeeding at things.
Anyway, the two rising stars has nabbed the leads in Transformers 4. Peltz starred in The Last Airbender – hmm, another unfortunate film on the girl’s CV – and will next appear in A&E's Bates Motel, so, at least she’s got that. Thwaites on the other hand seems to be a little better off having a key role in Disney’s upcoming, Maleficent.
In Transformers 4 Peltz will star as Mark Walhberg‘s daughter – hey, remember when he wasn’t even going to be in this movie? – and Thwaites as her biker boyfriend. Aren’t you excited?
Transformer 4 is set to release June 27, 2014.

BATMAN TOY NEWS From The Recent 2013 TOY FAIR
Here some some random photos I came across on facebook that some friends had shot at the recent 2013 TOY FAIR. First up is a Gigantic Japanese Batman Robot that was featured near the Funko Toys booth. Oh man, I really want this thing bad, it would look so cool in my living room, ha! I'm serious!!
Next up is a photo showing the prototype for the next Captain Action BATMAN OUTFIT Costume Set. This is only a mock-up but looks really great! I love that they're using older silver-age comic book art. You might recognize that image in the lower left-hand side as artwork by Carmine Infantino! Plus, their packaging concept is cool with the clear window box.
Then, here's another mock-up by Moebius Models showing their concept for a few 1966 BATMAN Classic TV Series Model Kits they plan on coming out with!! Yes, MODEL KITS!! It looks like they're going to make Batman, Robin The Boy Wonder, Catwoman, Joker, Penguin, and the Riddler!!!!

CBS Casts ‘Harry Potter’ Alum Rupert Grint in Gregory Garcia Superhero Comedy
Writer, producer Gregory Garcia (Yes Dear, My Name is Earl, Raising Hope) has just singed one of Nerdom’s favorite resident gingers, Rupert Grint (Harry Potter‘s Ron Weasley) to star in his new CBS comedy Super Clyde. The single camera comedy is described as:
Clyde is a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who decides to become a super hero. The well-meaning and sweet yet slightly neurotic guy who never feels like he really fits in. The avid comic book reader considers himself a borderline agoraphobic with mild to severe anxiety issues who wishes he were a super hero himself. When Clyde inherits a $100,000 a month inheritance from his long-dead eccentric Uncle Bill, he decides that the cash will be his secret super power and will use it only for good and reward the good-hearted.
So I’m guessing he won’t be using his new-found wealth to refurbish his basement into the Batcave or be beating heads like Kick Ass. Hey, Kick Ass is a comedy, an action comedy, but a comedy all the same.
Garcia does have a stellar track record with comedies so there’s a good chance this pilot will make it to television screens and mark the first small screen series regular role for Grint.
What do you think? Can Grint carry a show by himself? Could some of his Harry Potter friends make some guest appearances?

Pull List: Comics Coming Out 2/13/13
And what will be arriving for our Valentine’s pregaming? We’ve got an overview of the list, and reviews of DC and Valiant books under the cut.
- DC launches Katana, wraps up Batman #17, and has more Superboy and Suicide Squad.
- Marvel starts up Secret Avengers, Uncanny X-Men, and Powers Bureau, and has more Scarlet Spider, which our commenters keep recommending.
- Image has more Walking Dead, Manhattan Projects, Storm Dogs, Fatale, America’s Got Powers, and Bedlam.
- Dark Horse finishes Ex Sanguine, and brings us new issues of Star Wars, Buffy, and To Hell You Ride.
- IDW fires up a new Ghostbusters ongoing and is releasing more Mars Attacks and High Ways.
- And Boom! has more Supurbia and Bravest Warriors, and is also putting out a Planet of the Apes special
Reviews
Batman #17
We have an interview with Scott Snyder on deck for tomorrow to get into this issue some more, but suffice to say, it’s one of the best of his run, and his run has been pretty damn good. It loses a little momentum in the last few pages, but closes on an uncomfortable and troubling note that implies the finale might be a lot more complex than we thought. Greg Capullo also hands in a superb job, weaving in motifs that you only notice on a second reading, and trust us… you’ll be giving this book a second reading.
Katana #1
Ann Nocenti is one of DC’s few female writers, and she’s one of the stronger members of the DC stable. Generally you see her name on a book DC wants a strong launch with, and Katana is no exception. The book takes place in a real neighborhood, Japantown in San Francisco, and Katana herself isn’t very different from her pre-New 52 incarnation. Still, Nocenti does an excellent job with a heroine uncomfortable in her own skin and troubled by the possibility of enjoying violence.
Alex Sanchez, meanwhile, delivers some of the better martial arts work in comics. Depicting hand-to-hand action scenes clearly is harder than it looks, and Sanchez makes the interesting choice to leave some of his pencils visible for shading instead of inking everything, and widely varying his line. The result is a book with a very distinct and dynamic look. It’s a strong launch for the series and we’ll be curious to see what comes of issue #2.
The Hunted #2
This book is rapidly becoming one of my favorites from DC. Keith Giffen is no stranger to bizarre alien slums or The Most Dangerous Game-style, so he knows it’s all about pacing and gags. Tom Raney, on art, knows how to place a gag and an action scene, and the result is a zippy, funny book that doesn’t take itself remotely seriously.
Django Unchained #2
After a somewhat rocky first issue, R.M. Guera and Jason Latour have worked out a pretty good rhythm with Tarantino’s script. This book feels like it has a little room to breathe, finally, and it delivers on Tarantino’s script while standing apart as its own work.
Before Watchmen: Comedian #5
Brian Azzarello’s mini has really become a story about Vietnam, and how the Comedian is, as nasty as he is, out of his league. The problem is really, we already know the Comedian is monstrous, and a fair bit of the reason why. It’s fun as alternate history, and J.G. Jones’ art is always gorgeous even when depicting atrocious things, but the book can’t shake a feeling of being less than necessary.
Batman: Arkham Unhinged
Written by Derek Fridlofs, by and large, and with a variety of artists contributing, this collection of stories originally published digitally is largely background for Batman: Arkham City. It’s fun, as far as it goes, but mostly middle of the road, with one amusing exception: “Surgeon’s General”, a hilarious riff on alternate skins in video games that teeters right on the edge of meta-observation but doesn’t quite go over. It’s a little steep if you’re not a fan of the game, but solid comics for fans.
Batman: Night Of The Owls
A collection of the Night of the Owls crossover in the Batbooks, this is really best seen as a hardcover sampler. If you’ve wanted to get a look at a cross-section of the various Batman family books, this is the way to do it. It’s also handsomely printed, which helps considerably.
Archer And Armstrong #7
Now that Fred Van Lente has largely set aside the goofy satire and focused on pulpy action, this book is starting to take off. It helps substantially that Emanuela Lupacchino is having a lot of fun with the art, putting together over the top action. In short, this book has become a silly romp, and we mean that in the best way possible.
Bloodshot #8
The last issue of this book was genuinely touching, which makes this issue, featuring Bloodshot gorily fighting cyborgs and getting his ass kicked by kids a bit of mood whiplash. But it’s still a fun book, and hey, if you can’t enjoy a man with a giant red dot on his chest emptying a semi-automatic rifle into a gigantic nanny, you just aren’t enjoying comics.
And now, the full list. As always, let us know what’s in your sub pile and let’s talk some comics!

Second ‘Oblivion’ Trailer Ditches The WALL-E Overtones For More Olga Kurylenko
Some people don’t want Morgan Freeman to narrate their life. Sometimes, persuasion is necessary.
Universal released the second trailer for Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy). It’s a definite improvement on the first trailer and the TV spot. In this trailer, unlike the first one, Tom Cruise doesn’t seem like a reverse WALL-E stripping an abandoned Earth of resources. Now we’re getting an idea of the plot, wherein a man with a damaged memory meets an eerily-familiar and gorgeous survivor (Olga Kurylenko) on a supposedly-abandoned Earth. And we can’t let this paragraph end without mentioning how disappointed we are in Urban Dictionary for not describing any sex position as a “reverse WALL-E”. Get it together, internet.
Oblivion opens in IMAX theaters on April 12th, then opens wide April 19th.
This also bears repeating:
