Director Zach Snyder has confirmed that a second trailer for his Superman reboot will be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and wants you to know how ecstatic he is about it.
The man behind The Man of Steel (hmm, that sounded awfully homoerotic) said the following to MTV News:
I can't wait for 'The Hobbit,' so it will be fun to see our crazy 'Man of Steel' trailer and then enjoy 'The Hobbit' because that's going to be great. It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action.
Wow, thanks Zach. You just gave us more reason to see The Hobbit. Speaking of which, The Hobbit is ending 2012 with bang. A) It’s The Hobbit, who the hell isn’t excited for it? B) It’s the first film ever in HFR 3D and C) there will be a Star Trek Into Darkness 9 minute prologue and trailer. And, of course, the forementioned 2nd look at Man of Steel. Golly (that’s such an underused word. imma bring it back), talk about being excited to go the movies.
In other Man of Steel news. Snyder commented briefly (via SHH) about the film’s villain, Michael Shannon:
Shannon is great, he has such great enthusiasm and dedication constantly. You can imagine that you could get actors who go, 'Oh right, it's Zod, it's not 100 percent serious,' or [you can play it] slightly with a wink, there is none of that with him. His effort is to make it realized and to understand this character and what he has to go through, so you have that on one side and you have Henry, who basically is Superman, on the other side and that dynamic.
Hearing Snyder talk about the film and it’s cast excites me. He really sells me on the idea that we’re finally getting the version of Superman we deserve. The footage seen thus far, however, hasn’t been as impressive. I mean come on, the first trailer showed Supes hitchhiking like a bum and sailing in a storm. These moments obviously indicate Clark/Superman is doing some deep soul/identity searching. Cripes, do we really need to care Superman’s psyche? Let everyone else be human. Leave. Superman to fly around, smash shit up and be the hero none of us can be.
I can only hope this 2nd Man of Steel trailer is as crazy as Snyder says it is.
