Did Saoirse Ronan Accidently Slip a Spoiler About Her Potential Role?

saoirse ronan

It's no news that Saoirse Ronan has been auditioned for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, though if what she says is to be believed, she's just one of about ten-billion actresses that have gone in to try out for said role. And though we may not know whether she'll actually get cast or not, in a recent interview, Ronan may have dropped a little spoiler about the role she was trying out for.

When talking with Empire Magazine's podcast about her other projects, they naturally ended up on the topic of Episode VII. In addition to confirming her audition with Abrams and company, she had this to say:

Yeah, I don't know whether I should have said that now! Yeah, I did [audition]. I mean, everyone did, you know? Everyone has auditioned for it. There's so many people I know that have gone in for the part that I've gone in for, and guys who've gone in for a particular part, so I'd imagine J.J. is literally just scanning the earth to find the people that he needs. But nobody has a clue what it's about, nobody's read the script, you know, nobody's who's kind of directly involved in it. So, yeah. So, I mean I've gone in and read for it, but I have to say, I think it's the only time where I've ever thought, 'You know what? Even if I don't get it, I had so much fun auditioning, and pretending to take out a lightsaber out of a bag, and kind of inspect it and not know what it is. That was... that was great. A lightsaber! Star Wars!

Well, the big speculation is that we'll be seeing the Solo kids in the new flick, so does that mean she'll be one of them? It doesn't seem likely that she would be trying out for a Jedi part if she didn't know what a lightsaber was. Of course, that's assuming an adherence to the Skywalker renewal of Jedi training. In the end, we have no idea what Abrams is doing with it and what Ronan had to say means very little except that since she's trying out for some of the first roles to be cast that they must be pretty damn important.

Internet, you have rumor-failed me again!

Thanks to Blastr for the heads-up.
