Brad Pitt Back On ‘World War Z’ Set For More Reshoots

When’s the last time you heard about a movie that, after completing initial production shooting, required a script rewrite and scene reshoots? It’s happened before, but things just got worse. After completing those two major production profit crushing issues, the production team releases a trailer for the movie, but, wait for it, wait for it, STILL had more reshoots to do?

Welcome to the perplexing world that is World War Z.

Brad Pitt returned to the troubled set in London to complete some reshoots yesterday. Just Jared posted pictures of Pitt back in character for the reshoots. These aren’t the reshoots reported back in June, those took place in Budapest. So not only did the production complete those reshoots and produce a trailer, they decided that even more reshoots were needed.

This has got to be one of the biggest boondoggles in Hollywood history. What would your boss say if he or she gave you a task, then you had to redo it four or five times, not for little spelling errors or other minor things, but to completely change the outcome of your project? Would you still have a job after all that?

After this movie gets released, the DVD Directors Cut had better have some interesting as hell interviews to explain all the back and forth this production had. That might be the only thing making the DVD worth buying and watching if the trailer quality is any indication of the full movie.

Montana TV Station’s Emergency Alert System Hacked – The Dead Walk

It’s lunch time and you’re home for a quick bite before heading back to work. You’ve got the television on in the background while you make yourself a sandwich. Suddenly the volume on the television goes to 11 and a loud blaring alert signal causes you to jump about five feet in the air. The dog starts barking crazily and you’ve knocked that half filled jar of mayo off the counter, now there’s mayo all over the place. Usually you’d ignore the message that follows that annoying noise and start cleaning up all that mayo, but this time the message isn’t about a storm or kidnapping, you hear that booming monotone voice talk about the dead walking and you look towards the closet where you store your Bug-Out bag.

That’s what happened to Montana residents watching the Steve Wilkos Show on station KRTV. Check out the video.

The station engineers quickly pulled the bogus alert off air and replaced it with an on air apology from KRTV followed by this online announcement:

Currently, no one has stepped forward to take credit for the hacking prank and although some other sites are speculating that this was an attempt at viral marketing for The Walking Dead, it just doesn’t make sense for anyone at AMC‘s The Walking Dead to pull off this prank without some indicator besides zombies to point viewers in AMC’s direction.

We’ve all seen the hacked construction warning signs on the internet like the one pictured below.

Most likely this is the work of a local hacker or KRTV employee looking to have a little fun.I have to point out that this announcement is that moment, if a Zombie outbreak ever happened, that would determine whether, and how long, you might survive.

Of course what really makes the difference is where you are when everything goes to hell in a hand basket. If your far from home I would say your chances go down dramatically. Why? The first thing you are going to want to do is get back to your family and loved ones. The farther you have to travel the more danger you’ll face.

New ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Three Clip and Superbowl Ad

The countdown for the return of the second half of season three for AMC and Robert Kirkman‘s The Walking Dead is in the final stretch, so expect to see more teasers, clips, commercials, and production stills as the marketing machine kicks into overdrive. It’ll all culminate with a recap marathon of The Walking Dead season three just hours before the February 10th premiere at 9PM on AMC. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on anything you’ve missed so far or just refresh your memory.

First off we’ve got a clip featuring a look at the new arrivals to the prison and their introduction to the baby.

That awkward pause at the end is fantastic, did you notice Hershel, well everyone, looking back toward Carl? Even the most innocent questions become conversational land mines in the Zombie Apocalypse.

It’s a great little commercial, although that family keeps a lot of fresh meat around the house. I wouldn’t recommend that for the average Zombie Apocalypse Survivor family. Seriously though, AMC could have had a whole Superbowl marketing campaign, imagine sending a Zombie Reporter to Superbowl Player Media day, or two zombies, one wearing a Ravens jersey, one wearing a 49′ers, fighting over a human head in a mock Zombie football game.

Another group of production stills have come out from the first episode of the second half of season three, The Suicide King. We get a look at what kind of madness we can expect from The Walking Dead for the remainder of season three. All indicators point toward a manic, bloody, insanely gory thrill ride, you’ll know where to find me on Sunday nights at 9PM.

AMC Goes Black and White for Season 1 & 2 of ‘The Walking Dead’

Last July AMC aired The Walking Dead pilot episode in black and white. It was a nod to the black and white comic book series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The absence of color adds an interesting look and feel to the show and AMC has decided to show the first two seasons of The Walking Dead in black and white this February.

Reruns are a huge part of many television channels, some don’t even wait until the hiatus to start. Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead often show the same episode twice on air night and then again the following week as a precursor to the new episode giving those that missed it the chance to catch up. Many networks are doing the same thing. AMC is just taking that to the next level in hopes of snagging new viewers and drawing back rabid fans.

The Walking Dead Magazine posted the above, and Show runner Glen Mazzara retweeted a fan's photo of the article. Season three of The Walking Dead continues on February 10th, 2013. Perhaps the black and white episodes will air marathon style before the big premiere episode of the second half of season three.

The Most Sadistic Decision-Making In Zombie Movies

Zombies are everywhere in popular culture, and with them comes rot, terror… and usually some uncomfortable and painful moral choices. Here’s a look back on the most sadistic and gruesome decision-making forced on protagonists in modern zombie cinema.

Really the start of the zombie renaissance, this is a movie full of tough decisions, but probably the most brutal is the illustration of just how far Selena will go for survival. When Mark gets bitten, Selena has to choose, in a split-second, between running away and leaving him to become infected, or brutally murdering him right there. Ouch.

Shaun of the Dead is a lighthearted comedy about leaving all your loved ones to die horribly in a zombie apocalypse. First Shaun is forced to strand his stepfather — who he just emotionally reconciled with — inside his beloved car. Then he has to kill his mom. Then he has to leave his best friend to die while stepping out into a zombie apocalypse under the impression that he and the love of his life are going to be horribly eaten alive.

On the other hand — and not unreasonably – Shaun doesn’t feel so bad feeding her annoying friends to zombies. Warning: Graphic.

So, you’ve saved your pregnant girlfriend in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. You’ve done your best to make it through unscathed, but unfortunately, the pregnancy has some complications and your baby is a zombie. Do you save your zombie baby, or let an old lady kill it?

Andre chose to blow away the old lady, which, well… really isn’t the option we would have gone for.

Say what you will about the other tough choices Will Smith’s character has to make, putting down his dog Sam after she is bit and infected is the most gut-wrenching of all (for both Will and the audience). Especially since, to this point, his dog is literally the only friend he has. In the entire world.

Also, he has to strangle it to death, you know, because life wasn’t cruel enough.

Also file this under “Awesome.” When Cherry’s right leg is torn off by zombies early in Planet Terror she could have given up. Hey, we would have.

Instead she fights back, first by attaching a chair leg where her own leg used to reside, and then by making her missing limb the ultimate advantage: attaching a modified M4 Carbine with M203 grenade launcher to her stump.

When Burt and Spider find an abandoned police car, they desert the rest of their friends to make a run for it. Dick move, but then again…

Hopefully no one has seen Diary of the Dead, but it should be noted that it did include arguably the most epic sacrificial zombie kill of all time. Warning: hilariously graphic.

OK, so there aren’t many tough choices to be made in Zombieland, but the death of Bill Murray will always bring a tear to the eye…

Go Up Close and Personal With Characters, Old and New, From ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 14th which means prepare for promotional onslaught! To begin with we ‘ve got these stunning, up close and personal portraits from the Huffington Post,

I’m so excited for people to meet Michonne. What’ll be weird, as well as interesting, is meeting Michonne through her interactions with Andrea and the Governor – whom Entertainment Weekly has some new shots of you can see below – as opposed to joining the group at the prison. In fact the whole switch up of having Andrea and Michonne separated from the group and set up in Woodbury in the first place is gonna be weird. But I’m excited to see what they do with this twist.

Danai Gurira , Laurie Holden, and David Morrissey, the actors responsible for Michonne, Andrea, and the Governor, also spoke to EW about their characters in Season 3.

Gurira: For Michonne, it's the first time she has opened up since her trauma happened, which occurred at the beginning of the apocalypse. So Andrea is the first person she's really been able to open up to, to love, to care for, take care of. I think there's a lot of yearning in her humanity to be able to do that with somebody. And she's found the person for her.

Holden: She asked a lot of questions at first and she was a bit wary, but the Governor is very seductive - in a calm, loving sense. If you look around, everybody seems happy; there are children playing ball with dogs, and pregnant women walking around happier than clams, and there are cellos in the street being set up for the blues band. It's pretty idyllic.

Morrissey: People in the world that we inhabit need structure, they need to feel safe, and he provides that. And I think any leader of any community has to earn trust. And the idea of power is a really interesting idea of how people keep their power in a community. They keep it in all different ways. They can keep it by being generous, by facilitating your good life by giving you gifts. But they can also take those gifts away, they can be intimidating. They can be powerful, they can protect you from the enemy, whether that protection is just a fight or not, or whether they create the feeling of paranoia in order to suppress it. That is a great game that politicians and power-hungry people do. I think he does all those things. The world that has been created plays into his hands.

The Jedi training sequence from Empire Strikes Back would have been way different if Yoda was zombie. Deviant artist MartyDMF put together this PG-13 piece of gore showing us just how different master the force would be with a rotting space alien on your back. Take the Amazing Spider-man, focus it on Gwen Stacy, kick out all those action sequences and you’ve got “Radioactive Love”, Ant Lucia‘s comic book answer to Twilight (not really). Taking the whole pin-up girl trend and mixing it with Marvel‘s young couple Lucia made something any teenage girl with a love of comics would want. Maybe the guys would too, but who wouldn’t want Spider-Man to enjoy a perk of being the hero. [Nerd Pride]

Pokemon, we’ve watched the shows, played the games, some of us still have the original trading cards from before everything went over 151. These pocket monsters always vary in size so artist Arvalis took it upon himself to give us an accurate size for a few of these super powered beasts. Arvalis has only done five of these right now so the hard part is over, that just leaves another 644 left to be sized and drawn. Good luck buddy. [Deviant Art]

Blending Star Wars with the child-like fun of Winnie the Pooh James Hance made a series perfect for an parent to introduce their kids to science fiction. Called ‘A Most Bold Adventure’ James perfectly translated Han Solo into a little youngster with a mini Chewbacca and R2-D2 Piglet. Even the AT-AT as the lovingly depressed Eeyore is perfect for the image. Might as well send James your money now. [Comics Alliance]

The Hulk is one tough son of a bitch in his own right, but even the strongest hero in the Marvel universe has some he look’s up to. Taking Popeye and tattooing him on your skin is pretty bad ass, but the bad thing is when he turns back into Bruce Banner the tattoo changes into Albert Einstein. [XombieDRIGE]

Uh oh, look’s like Batman fallen to the feminine charms of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn – or he just has one too many of those poison kisses. Either way it’ll look like Gotham City is going to be taking a break from the crimes tonight. Hell, just look at Harley, she might have just found out what Batman’s been hiding under all that Kevlar and body armor. [Geek Tyrant]

Poor Gollum, he finally gets the ring in his possession after all those years only to fall into the very lava that destroys it. So Nino-Candeias decided to drawn him at his final moment, in all his naked glory, cheering as he and the ring burn away. We have seen the uncensored the image ourselves and chosen to censor the image here on the site. It’s not because we feel seeing Gollum’s real “precious” would be rude, it’s that we just don’t want scar the J. R. R. Tolkien fans for life by showing off tiny Stoor Hobbit wang. [Deviant Art]

Watch The First Full Trailer For ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3

October 14th is just around the corner and the wait for the season three premiere of AMC and Robert Kirkman‘s The Walking Dead is quickly shrinking while the production team is cranking up the marketing storm to remind viewers to tune in.

There’s lots happening after the season two finale basically burned down the farm, slaughtered characters left and right, split up the group and put them on the run. Now we get to see if Rick can pull them all together to create some safety for the group while Michonne and Andrea try to survive alone. Season three’s tag line is:

Fight the Dead. Fear the Living.

This is going to be a full season of fun and surprises. There are new characters, returning characters, and with Robert Kirkman, one never knows which way the shit will fly once it hits the fan.
