MAU (meaning "to dance" in Japanese) celebrates the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation as it showcases the rich tapestry of Asian dance tradition.
MAU will be held on the 16th and 17th of November 2013 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino. Admission is free, however please contact The Japan Foundation Manila at (+632) 811-6155 to 58 for reservations.
MAU weaves a dance fabric with the vibrant colors of Kelantanese dance from Malaysia, stylized Mindanao dance from Philippines, Balinese traditional dance from Indonesia, Japanese kabuki dance, and the Chinese liyuan opera from Singapore.
Choreographed and directed by Fujima Kanjuro VIII, the Grandmaster of the 300 year old Fujima School of Kabuki, the dance collaboration is laced with Kabuki motifs to create a multi-layered dance adventure full of elegance and wit.
