Samuel L. Jackson Confirms Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ OR Does He?

When the man himself, Samuel L. Jackson, speaks, people listen, unless you're a kid that won't Go-the-F*@K-to-Sleep. Jackson was talking with the Wall Street Journal about his recent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo and also dropped an Avengers: Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch bomb. Or did he?

Let's start with the quote from the Journal that's blazing it's way across the Internet today:

I don't think we begin shooting before March of next year," Jackson said of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," the next film to begin shooting in the Marvel universe. "I know we're shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don't know what she's doing, if she's on the inside or the outside. I haven't seen a script.

Now let's take out the Brackets that were added by the Journal to help explain Jackson's statement to readers and we get this:

I don't think we begin shooting before March of next year," Jackson said of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," the next film to begin shooting in the Marvel universe. "I know we're shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. Olsen, but I don't know what she's doing, if she's on the inside or the outside. I haven't seen a script.

Now, what does that do to the quote that is supposedly confirming Olsen's role? Kinda waters the whole thing down doesn't it? Jackson says Spader is Ultron, but does not say what role Olsen will play. That "inside or out" part is most likely about whether or not she is on the inside, i.e. part of the Avengers, or the outside, not in the Avengers.

So really, what we've got is confirmation that Olsen has a role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, not what role she is playing. You've got to match that with the rumors about her being in talks to take on the role of the Scarlet Witch to make that jump, which means the whole thing is still just a rumor and not a true confirmation.

Now, this whole thing should put Olsen in the 75% range of confirmation as the Scarlet Witch. The papers just haven't been finalized or we'd be seeing tweets announcing her role. Until then, we've got to still consider this officially unconfirmed.

AVENGERS: The Radio Play at Granite State Comicon 2013

On September 28, 2013 at the Granite State Comic Con, voice actors Quinton Flynn, Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Jim Cummings and Richard Horvitz recreate the popular film, the AVENGERS, with their superhuman powers to reenact with the animated voices we remember from our childhood.

Language is PG-13 (May Not Be Safe For Work).

STGCC 2012 Day 1 Event Report

The Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention brings the East and the West in one gigantic pop culture explosion! Held this year on the 1st and 2nd of September at the gorgeous Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center, this year’s line up brings several fresh faces as well as a slew of STGCC favorites!

Designer toy heroes Simone Lego, Tristan Eaton, and Devilrobots wow-ed urban vinyl and plastic pop collectors with their latest releases as well as re-issues of several favorites. I personally did not survive the onslaught unscathed, as I couldn’t resist several TokiDoki premiums as well as the STGCC exclusive Treesons from Crazy Label and Ozzo Collection.

Japanese pop culture fans weren’t left out in the cold at this con — not with the massive Gunpla display, and the queues at the Tekken tournament space (where the winner walks away with over SGD 1,000 in prizes). Also back at STGCC 2012 was one of my favorite merch booths from the previous con: Bloody Bunny from Thailand. Cute and gory at the same time, you won’t be able to resist him when he’s on the warpath

Last but not least is the Hulk-sized booth from Hot Toys — featuring their latest must-buy collectible figures! With a nearly complete line-up from the biggest movie of the year: each of the six Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye), SHIELD Director Nick Fury, and charismatic villain Loki Laufeyson, Hot Toys is sure to burn a hole in your pocket — and you’ll love every minute of it!

‘Avengers’ Get Their Own Pinball Machine

Let's face it, The Avengers made a shitton of cash and if Disney has anything to say about it, they'll keep milking the super team until it's dry as a bone. So what's the next step in the process? Well, it's an unconventional one these days, but they decided to give The Avengers their own pinball machine.

The new machine will come in three different flavors – Avengers Pro, Avengers LE (Limited Edition) and a Hulk LE. A fourth flavor, Avengers Premium, will be arriving next year.

Let’s face it, these Nickelodeon‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are good, but nothing beats the look of the original bad ass heroes in a half-shell. The Turtles are meant to be tough, it’s the way they should be. If you know who originally created this wicked piece by all means tell us, we’ll give him or her credit. [Monkey Land]

No matter how long the Avengers has been out the parody pieces keep getting better and better, like what Jay Phenrix has done here. Giving each key Nintendo member an Avengers makeover is pretty damn cool and fits them quite well to their counterpart. The only thing we can call “bullshit” on Mario, there is no way he could make a suit like that on a plumber’s salary. [Copiously Geeky]

Adventure Time has gone from a series on the Cartoon Network to a multi-million dollar franchise, but the one area it’s missing is the Japanese anime portion of the market. So Deviant Art user Suihara decided to help with a super wicked cast shot of the Adventure Time crew, anime style. [Deviant Art]

After falling from the sky and landing on a earthworm about to be eaten, Earthworm Jim was brought into existance and thus began the weirdest gaming franchise ever, but according to Stanislav Novarenko Jim wasn’t buff enough.
