Nerdy Bits: Harry Potter at Starbucks, Daft Punk Pinball, Superhero Instagrams and MOAR!!!

pt

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we'll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

ABOVE: Aw, this tiny stormtrooper might be even cuter than the pink Darth Vader that we saw last year. The flower on the helmet is pretty much the best thing ever. [Fashionably Geek]

precious poison ivy

Poison Ivy is always a popular cosplay choice. This one by Precious is one of the most beautiful I've seen. The wig is especially stunning and took a lot of time - it's 3 wigs sewn together! [Photo: Adam Patrick Murray]

tonystark_instagram

Everyone's jumping on the Instagram bandwagon these days. It was only a matter of time before Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne did the same. [Geeks Are Sexy]

butterbeer frapp

Speaking of Instagram, Instagram user and coffee lover RedEyeDana (great name!) snapped this shot at a local Starbucks. Has anyone seen these at their local Starbucks?

normannorma

i09 has a list of the best and worst advertising at Comic-Con. This one made me giggle the most, even though it's not the coolest one on the list.

earth from saturn

In case you missed this bit of space porn that was floating around the interwebs yesterday, the tiny dot in the above picture is the Earth taken from NASA's Cassini spacecraft near the planet Saturn. Makes you feel really insignificant, doesn't it?

daft-punk-pinball-machine-1

Tim Spriel created this pinball machine to pay homage to Daft Punk's 'Alive 2007 album and tour. The most ingenious thing about the machine is that you start the game and fire the ball by spinning a record! [Obvious Winner]

hello terminator

Hello Kitty has turned into a trendy pop culture phenomenon but she maintains some of her nerd cred when fans like baker Laura mash her up with the Terminator and bake her into a birthday cake. [Between the Pages]

This geek girl anthem by the Doubleclicks entitled 'Nothing to Prove" made me cry all over my computer.... but you know, that's probably because an emotional girl or something.

Watch chalk artist Christ Carlson create this 3-D drawing of Donkey Kong. The video starts out as a time-lapse of Carlson drawing but then awesomely morphs into a stop motion video. [Geekologie]
